My Comic Shop History is a podcast hosted by documentary filmmaker Anthony Desiato (My Comic Shop DocumentARy, By Spoon!, Wacky Man) exploring the economics, culture, and psychology of comic shops and collecting. In Season 1, a comic book store fell, a community united, and a podcast was born. Relive the final days of Alternate Realities from the perspective of the store's owners, employees, and customers. Then, out of the ashes of the Alternate Realities saga, a new story began! Season 2 explores how the completist mentality, first impressions, fandom, parenthood, and other forces shape collectors. My Comic Shop History returns with Season 3 in 2017.
Anthony Desiato, Flat Squirrel Productions' owner and founder, is an attorney with a lifelong passion for writing and filmmaking. While attending law school, Anthony fulfilled a long-held ambition by turning the camera on Alternate Realities, the New York comic book shop where he worked for more than a decade. The result, My Comic Shop DocumentARy, is an independent, feature-length film that has screened at film festivals across the country and garnered press in multiple media outlets, including The New York Times. Anthony followed up his directorial debut with the award-winning short, By Spoon! The Jay Meisel Story. He recently completed his third documentary, Wacky Man: The Rise of a Puppeteer.
